Sarfraz says it's a Tufted, no white at the base of the bill, agreed, but I have never seen a Tufted with that bill pattern and I can't see a tuft which I would expect at this time of year.
The sides look very white for Ring-necked, maybe a hybrid?
Do you have any more photos?

Myself and RobA went to Holdenwood mid afternoon, but no sign of Tufted/Ring duck, looking at Russells photo we tend to agree with Ians. Comments.
Regard Brian.

I'm no expert on this, but here's my thoughts.
head shape is wrong for ring-necked
white missing from base of bill, which would be present for ring-necked
ring-necked has grey flanks. the bird in the picture has white flanks, as per tufted duck
a search of the internet for tufted duck images does produce images of birds with similar bill patterns
the missing tuft, could be the angle of the photo on a bird that hasn't come into breeding condition yet
As I stated I am not an expert on these things, but I would agree with Sarfraz regarding ID and say that this is a tufted duck
Holden Wood
1 Male Tufted Duck
2 Teal
2 Mallard M/F 8 Ducklings
9 Lapwing 5 chicks seen
Cheers Craggy
