Buzzard, 2 pairs over The Limy Valley and a pair over The Whitewell Valley,

Kestrel, 2 hovering birds over Cribden,

Lapwing, 7 birds on Edge Cote,

Snipe, 1 on Edge Cote,

Jack Snipe, 1 on Edge Cote,

Herring Gull, 1 over Swinshaw Moor,

L.B.B.Gull, 8 over Swinshaw Moor,

G.B.B.Gull, 2 over Whitewell Valley,

Stock Dove, 1,

Little Owl, 1,

Skylark, c12 singing birds,

Meadow Pipit, c12,

Pied Wagtail, pair,

Mistle Thrush, 1 singing at Marl Pits,

Dipper, singing bird in Balladen Clough,

Coal Tit, 1 in Balladen Clough,

Goldcrest, singing bird in plantation at Edge Cote,

House Sparrow, 4 in Balladen Clough,

Goldfinch, c4,

Greenfinch, c4,

Chaffinch, c12, many in song.

Hi Dave

I was up at Edge Cote/ Seat Naze earlier in the day carrying on to EBSW and can add the following

  • lapwing - 8 birds moving between Seat Naze and Edge Cote plus a bird seen across the valley at Shadlock Cote
  • snipe - 45, which included a flock of 30 birds which appeared to be flying towards Swinshaw Moor
  • curlew - 1 flew over towards the Hile
  • mixed flock of gulls at Edge Cote- c30 lesser black backed gull, c10 black headed & 2 common gull
  • goldcrest - 1 singing bird near Greendale Avenue, Newchurch, 1 singing & a feeding bird near Windy Willows Farm, c6 including 3 singing birds Edge Cote, 1 singing bird at Waingate Village, 1pr at Groundwork & a singing bird at EBSW.  Seems to be doing well after the mild winter
  • chiffchaff - singing birds at Marl Pits, The Holme, Holmes Terrace Lodge & EBSW
  • coal tit - 3 prs & a singing bird at Edge Cote
  • siskin - 1 at Edge Cote
