A Red Kite flew over Ogden Res, gained height and left to the south being mobbed by 2 crows at 10.45am.

Bird was going over the hill top before i got the camera on it so distant record shots..

Great record for the area - the one raptor we get on a yearly basis which I have yet to see in Rossendale. They are great to watch after 4 sightings at St Aidans/Swillington Ings.

I was at Grane today and yesterday. Highlights:-


1. Cuckoo at Calf Hey

2. Whitethroat singing at farm on Holden Wood - was not singing in morning or previous days but started singing mid morning after standing there one for a long time. Maybe it just came in?

3. Singing Stonechat in rushes above Holden Wood and at side of Ogden.

4. Juvenile Grey Heron today

5. 2 Common Sandpiper.
