  • GREAT WHITE EGRET - whilst I was in the trees near the car park at Calf Hey, 1 flew over.  it appeared to come from the Clough Head area and appeared to be turning to come onto the res.  unfortunately it wasn't relocated on any of the reservoirs
  • grey heron - 1 at Ogden
  • cormorant - 8 at Holden Wood & 11 at Ogden
  • great crested grebe - 1 at Holden Wood
  • Mallard - 22 on Holden Wood, 1pr on Ogden & 28 on Calf Hey
  • teal - 7 on Ogden & 7 on Calf Hey
  • goosander - 2 at Holden wood
  • goldeneye - 6 on Ogden
  • coot - 1 on Holden wood
  • moorhen - 1 on Holden Wood
  • buzzard - 3 sightings of what was probably the same bird at Ogden
  • kestrel - possibly the same bird seen twice at Holden Wood
  • lapwing - 2 at Holden Wood
  • herring gull - min 85 at Ogden on the morning & 2 on Calf Hey.
  • great black backed gull - 2 at Ogden
  • black headed gull - 35 at Holden Wood, c50 at Ogden & 13 at Calf Hey
  • green woodpecker - 1 at Ogden
  • grey wagtail - 1 at Ogden
  • dipper - 1 in the overflow between Holden Wood & Ogden & 1 in the by wash at Calf Hey
  • stonechat - 1m at Holden Wood
  • redwing - 3 at Holden Wood & 1 at Calf Hey
  • nuthatch - 2 at Calf Hey
  • carrion crow - 3 birds taking bread off the water (courtesy of Sarfraz) at Holden Wood
  • bullfinch - 1 at Holden Wood

Hi Ste,was Paul's bird a great white egret? If so maybe there is a bird wandering the area. Merry Xmas everybody and all the best for the new year
