08/03/18 - Greenfinch singing in  Winfields Car Park

09/03/18

I spy with my little eye a big gull at top.  Took a long range shot of it with my camera and looking at the photographs - it looked pale and had a pink and black bill.  Russell told me he was coming from Quarry side.  I phoned him and before I could open my mouth "Is that a Glaucous Gull?" he asked a bit gobsmacked.  I think so but it flew off with a Great Black Backed Gull westwards - not seen at Ogden or Calf Hey sadly.   Could it be the Hollingworth Lake bird which has not been reported today?  There has been a bit of an increase in inland sightings this season.  It might be worth checking in morning when Great Black Backed Gulls loaf around.
