Wood Sandpiper Holden Wood Reservoir Today

After a Green Sandpiper flew off from top end to Ogden calling - another species called but could not be seen.  Call not familiar with but I did check online and it matched Wood Sandpiper. As I played it to myself it called again but could not be seen.  I got a text from another birder that he had seen a Sandpiper and could hear one calling too.  When he checked online the calls fitted Wood Sandpiper exactly.   On the way back the Wood Sandpiper was calling and then it flew off - although not seen clearly the calls matched Wood Sandpiper 100%.  3 Oystercatchers still here.

On Ogden highlights were 2 Great Black backed Gulls, 8 Cormorants and a Great Crested Grebe.   approx. 70 Starlings.  Single Curlew heard.

Calf Hey Reservoir - min 3 Tree Pipits being the highlight today- just past the 2 metal fenced off sections on the Musbury side of the Res. .  Speckled Wood Butterfly too.  Buzzard family making a racket.

150-200 House Martins on Sunday 12 August over Ogden and Calf Hey.

approx. 200 Lapwings on Tuesday 14 August flying over Ogden.

min 10 Stonechat at Calf Hey - many fresh juveniles too Sunday 12 August.

min 6 singing Willow Warbler around Grane  on Sunday 12 and 3 today.

2 Swifts Sunday 12 August over Holden Wood.

Green Sandpiper present most days at Calf Hey
