Top O'th' Slate - Duckworth Clough - Laund - Fri Apr 27th 2007

Heading off today, the Whitethroat was still present and singing near too Rawtenstall Old Road.
Willow Warbler: About 5 singing on Top O'th' Slate - Still no Grasshoppers/Whitethroat or Blackcap.
Swallow: 2 back on Territory at Duckworth Clough.
Whitethroat: One singing at Duckworth Clough in trees to left hand side just lower down than tip approach.
Willow Warbler: At least 3 singing at Duckworth Clough plantings. noticed one was singing from up on the last plantings near enough on top of Cribden Hill, which is a good altitude!
Goldcrest: present in Duckworth Clough Plantings.
Linnet: a pair at Laund
Skylark: a pair on Laund.
Starlings: Lots continually coming from town and feeding on Laund and surrounding fields and then returning - must now be some favourite food source.
Too windy with strong Easterlies making it difficult to pick up Grasshopper Warblers and the like.

Cheers,
Bryan.
