Whilst looking for damselflies we found a couple of small colonies of Green Hairstreaks and they were performing well in the sunshine.  There were about 4 or 5 at SD766162 and 2 or 3 near Paddy's Pond (SD766171).  We could see loads of Bilberry on the side of Holcombe Hill so there ought to be GHs there too.

Apart from these there were 4-5 Speckled Wood, c10 Small Torts, c10 Peacock, lots of Whites - mostly GVW with an odd Large White, lots of Orange Tips.

Hi Jim

I found a colony of green hairstreaks on the hillside below Hurdles Quarry today.  I only saw 3 butterflies but I wasn't actually looking for them.

cheers Kevin

Excelent! I suspect we could have them wherever there is Bilberry, particularly on sunny slopes
