Those pesky young Starlings (100+) have stripped all our feeders during the last week - they even managed to hang on to the mealworm feeders and empty them too. I came home one day and thay all flew up from round the (tiny) pond. I'm sure they had been trying to get at the taddies - there were droppings everywhere. Thankfully, they seem to have moved into the fields now.
Just as a matter of interest, the young starlings in my garden all sit around an up-turned dustbin lid. Not exactly a pond and no tadpoles, but full of water. Your tadpoles must be more of an attraction though Jim!! Ina
Hi Jim I know what you mean I have spent time and money trying to direct the Starlings to where i want to feed them. I have managed it now but the amount of bird muck at times is causing the odd eyebrow lift from one of the neighbours so I have reluctantly decided to lessen the food put out for the starlings.
On the plus side...aren't the young 'uns cute!

The odd thing is, they don't normally come to our garden at all. On my GBFS surveys, it is a rare week when I record any Starlings. For some reason this year they use our trees from which to stage forays on to the fields. As for cute - that darned squawking puts me right off!
