from 6pm to 7.15

2 grey herons

7 adult mallards  of which 5 were drakes  and 2 fem - one fem had 6/7 small ducklings.  on the far bank and not noticeable until a heron flew over them and mother duck quacked aggressively.

3 moorhens sighted - 2 more heard but not seen

approx 25 canada geese

6 lapwings in the fields to the grane road side and approx 18 in the fields of the other side

1 fem sparow hawk which appeare to come form ogden way being mobbed by swallows. it flew over the field with the lapwings who did not respond to it.  the lapwings spotted a carrion crow flying towards the field and just terrorised the poor thing - sending it back.  if the lapwings mobbed the sparrowhawk i would not have seen it clearly but definitely would have heard it and seen the birds at least flying in that area.   they also ignored a magpie stting on the wall.  their main targets are carrion crows.

also some reed buntins, meadow pipits, linnets, carrion crows, magpies, swallow, swifts, wood pigeons,
