A good day all round with seven birders taking part in three teams. Results were:
Team A = 60 species,
Team B = 61 species,
Team C = 68 species,
Total all teams = 71 species.

No new species were seen for a summer boird race but 71 is the 3rd highest total in 15 years of the event taking place. The grand total of species seen on summer bird races remains on 97.
 
Highlights for today were:

L.R.Plover, pair with young,
Oystercatcher, pair at Calf Hey Res,
Tawny Owl, pair with 4 young & seperate bird being mobbed by blackbirds,
Kingfisher, singles on Irwell,
Green Woodpecker, 1 at Reedsholme,
Grasshopper Warbler, 1 reeling early morning at Clowbridge,
Whitethroat, up to 6 different birds singing,
Garden Warbler, pair feeding young & seperate singing male,
