Hi David - John H was speaking to me earlier about the Lapwings on the Limed Farm survey site at Whitworth. According to the farmer there was a nest with 4 eggs quite recently. John wondered if perhaps the adults had chased off their first brood of youngsters and nested again. I mentioned you had had about 60 at AMR and he wondered how many of them were young birds?

Hi Jim,
I'd say maybe 30% were juvs from all the birds I saw today. Mid June eggs seems very late but they could have been replacement eggs for a failed clutch. Certainly some of the birds I saw today were still paired up!
Regards,
David
