Movement: South unless stated otherwise.
Really strong winds, almost blowing you of your feet eg: N25+ mph. Small numbers of Pipits going through, very high and passing at what seemed about 40 mph side on....
Meadow Pipit: 41
Linnet: 4
Goldfinch: 2
Siskin: 15 W (one party)
House Martin: 2
Woodpigeon: 2
Goosander: 2
Haslingden Grane (Stoney Rake)
0815hrs - 1015hours
Wind: N 10-12mph
Movement: West unless stated otherwise.
Redwing: 101 (2 parties of 40 plus small groups, 1 SE)
Meadow Pipit: 17
Greenfinch: 4
Goldfinch: 1
Chaffinch: 18 (one party 7 & 9)
Tree Pipit: 1
Pied Wagtail: 1
Woodpigeon 1
Pink Footed Goose: 70 (one party East then North at 0900hrs)

Ste:  You could be right about the Meadow Pipits having already passed through, but if this is/was the case very few have ever passed through here in comparison to previous years, probably so far only 5 -10% of usual numbers.  The situation has been reasonably monitored from mid August onwards not just at Laund but throughout several sites within Northern England and everyone to press have been reporting very dissapointing low numbers so far.  But after saying that the same applies with the Swallows, its been a disastrous year as far as vismig recording of Swallows at least at Laund!!  We'll see how it goes over the next week - the weather has played havoc in the last few days in one way or another.
