I intended tagging this on to Bryan's vismig bit, but I have got to my computer before he got to his. So keep that in mind while reading it please.
You were right Bryan, Crossbills were still in Top o'th Knoll. I could hear 'em but just as I thought I'd got 'em surounded it went quiet, so my guess is they went back the other way again. In addition there were in that area:- 1 Green Woodpecker 1 GSW 2 Jay 2 Redpoll party of c10 Goldfinch party of 15 Starling over same direction as earlier Lots of 'tits various' mainly Coal. Ina
Hi Ina, Them elusives Crossbills, like I said they will remain so quiet and even let you walk under the tree which supports them and let you spend time watching them whilst keeping so quiet while your there, but the minute you turn and leave them they go absolutely "jipping" mad.....
Just as I was walking down near the bottom of Stoney Rake, a further party of Starling went through est: 30 and also a party of Chaffinch est: 10, so they must have been going for it in a small way this morning..
If the cold weather strikes in the next day or two which its forecasted things should start to pick up from the East..
