FEEDING STATIONS

    I have three feeding stations set up, one with a hide for photography,these have been very active the past couple of weeks with all the sudden changes in temperature and conditions,below is a collective list of sightings~~~~~~

      great tit
      blue tit
      coal tit
      long tailed tit
      greenfinch
      bullfinch
      chaffinch
      goldfinch
      robin 
      dunnock
      blackbird
      mistle thrush
      redwing
      nuthatch
      jay
      magpie
      jackdaw
      great spotted woodpecker   
      collard dove
      wood pigeon
      female sparrowhawk hunts around one of the station fairly regular.
      [interestingly no house sparrows or starlings]

Regarding Starlings, we don't often get them in the garden here in Bolton, usually when they do it is at the time they have lots of young birds with them.
As regards Sparrows, we seem to have a variable number between 6 and 20. Do you have Sparrows in the Strongstry area at other times of the year? It may simply be that there is still food available for them elsewhere. Perhaps later in the winter they'll use the garden more.
