A poor day on the weather front but the turnout was good and the birding good with three teams of three and the following results:
Team "A" = 46 species.
Team "B" = 48 species.
Team "C" = 54 species.
Total number of species seen was 60, the second highest ever!
Highlights were:
Great Crested Grebe, 1 Holden Wood, 1 Clowbridge, 1 Spring Mill,
Cormorant, 2 Grane,
Tufted Duck, 1 HTL, 5 Cowm,
Goldeneye, 4 Spring Mill,
Goosander, 2 Calf Hey, 1 Irwell Valley, 1 Spring Mill,
Sparrowhawk, 2/3,
Kestrel, 3/4,
Peregrine, 2,
Lapwing, flock over road end,
G.B.B.Gull Juv flew over Clowbridge and down the valley,
Stock Dove, 1 Ewood Bridge, 2 Warth,
Tawny Owl, 1 calling at Lench! (12:30!)
Green Woodpecker, 1,
Nuthatch, 1 singing at Irwell Vale,
Grey Wagtail, 4 E.B.S.W.
Dipper, 1 perching on low branches and swimming in Lench Lodges amongst others,
Kingfisher, 1 Lench Lodge,
Stonechat, pair at Holden Wood,
Brambling, c10 Edgeside Park,
Siskin, c120 Warth, c10 Calf Hey,
Bullfinch, 4 Warth
