05:45 - 15:30,
A glorious day with the 2nd highest total ever of 74 species between the three teams of two persons that took part. The total number of different species seen in Rossendale Summer Birdraces since 1992 is now 102 species.

Team A = 65 species,
Team B = 61 species,
Team C = 66 species.

Highlights were:

Mute Swan, 1 N.L Res,
Tufted Duck, a pair + single male at Cowm,
Sparrowhawk, splendid male sat out at Healey Dell + 4 others sightings,
Red Grouse, seen on Haslingden Moor,
Coot, nesting pair,
Oystercatcher, pair at Whitworth,
L.R. Plover, 2 pairs,
Common Sandpiper, 1 on Spring Mill,
Stock Dove, Deeply Vale & Alderbottom,
Tawny Owl,
Kingfisher, 2 sites,
Green Woodpecker, Waterfoot,
Sand Martin, Irwell Valley,
Grasshopper Warbler, reeling at Clowbridge,
Whitethroat, 2/3 singing males,
Chiffchaff, 2/3 singing males,
Nuthatch, Irwell Valley and Healey Dell,
Raven, 2 family parties,
Jay, c4 sightings,
Linnet, c6,
Redpoll, several family parties,
Twite, c6,
Bullfinch, c 4 sightings.
