The following were observed over a 7 week period from the 1st may,at dawn and dusk.
Two family parties of roe deer, one has a doe with this years young, the other seems to be a doe with last years and this years young, these parties are seen, quite regular,a buck with good antlers has also been seen.
Badgers are seen in a regular area, with young.
A male fox is being fed locally and quite visible.
There seem to be more rabbits about this year than last.
Plenty of pipistrelle bats about on calm evenings.
I have another,larger bat along the river,could be long eared,or natterers ?
Hi Brian A couple of weeks ago we were in the garden and a hedgehog appeared. We think it had been in the garage for some time because we kept finding things knocked over and we fed it with cat food and water. It was still around the following evening but we haven't seen it since.
Could the bat over the river be a Daubenton's as I think the hunt over water.
Checked with south lancs bat group, you could be right about daubentons bat,got some tips on identification will have another look,i walk out most evenings at dusk and see a few bats mostly pipistrelle, but the others look quite bigger,on the hedgehog subject i have not seen any this year ?
