08:30 -10:30 Goosander, 4, 2 males and 2 females on bottom lodge, Mallard,4, Cormorant, 2 on bottom lodge were the first I can recall and two flew over as well! Kestrel, 2, Buzzard, 1 drifted north towards Rawtenstall, Lapwing, 1 flew up towards AMR, B.H.Gull, c12, Common Gull c 15, L.B.B.Gull, c12, Herring Gull, 7, Blackbird, c20 in ones and twos, Song Thrush, 2, Mistle Thrush, 2, Redwing, c40, Fieldfare, c120 feeding on pasture, House Sparrow, c6 at Salesis Farm, Starling, c200 feeding on pasture, Jay, 2 singles, Raven, pair flew down valley calling, Goldfinch, 1 on thistle head, Chaffinch, c12 in small flocks, Greenfinch, c12 in small flocks Crossbill, a flock of c10, with at least 5 males, were feeding in conifers at Butcher Acre Farm. Took a walk up to Butcher Acre Farm with a camera and found your Crossbills feeding well and very photogenic on conifers on the footpath at the side of the farm, also two Goldcrest, got some good shots, counted thirteen in total, five being males.
