Canada Goose, 16, mainly in loose pairs on Ogden, Mallard, c20, Goldeneye, 5 inc 3 males on Ogden, Goosander, 2 redheads on Ogden, Sparrowhawk, female sunning herself and pair displaying. Kestrel, male perched on edge of tree plus bird hovering at distance, Red Grouse, single male on tops, Pheasant, calling males, Oystercatcher, pair on Holden Wood, Lapwing, 30 on Holden Wood, seen later in smaller flocks, Snipe, single bird flushed off the tops, Golden Plover, 22 on the tops, B.H.Gull, c6, Common Gull, 1, Wood Pigeon, flock of 20 plus odd birds, Green Woodpecker, 1 yaffling briefly, Skylark, 4 singing birds plus flock of 3 feeding on pasture, Dunnock, c4 some singing, Robin, c6, Mistle Thrush, 1 singing bird, Goldcrest, 2 at Calf Hey, L,T,Tit, 1 on feeder at Clough Head, Coal Tit, c20, good numbers, Blue & Great in smaller numbers, Greenfinch, c10, Goldfinch, 4 singles plus a pair, Chaffinch, c20 singing / calling males, Bullfinch, 3 flocks mainly males, Reed Bunting, 1 at Holden Wood. I walked round Grane today and can add the following
cormorant - numbers increased to 7 at Ogden Canada goose - 25 were on Ogden and 1 pair were at Holden Wood teal - 6m & 4f on Calf Hey goldeneye - there were 6 on Ogden, 3 males in one group, 1 immature female and 1 pair goosander - another pair as well as your 2 redheads were on Ogden lapwing - 38 on holden Wood and 10 at Ogden curlew - 1pair at Holden Wood wood pigeon - 49 feeding alongside Ogden pied wagtail - 1 at Ogden dipper - 1 at Ogden raven - 1pair over Holden Wood, 1 bird over Haslingden Moor & 1 pair over Thirteen Stone Hill, possibly the same birds seen repeatedly. redpoll - 1 heard at Calf Hey
