Foggy with a touch of frost early on at just 3 degrees.
Great Crested Grebe, 1 on Ogden,
Cormorant, min 3 birds on Ogden and 1 on Calf Hey,
Canada Goose, c12 especially in Quarries,
Mallard, 4 pairs,
Goldeneye, minimum of 8 seen on Ogden with 4 on Calf Hey possibly involving the same birds.
Goosander, single Male and single Redhead both on Calf Hey,
Kestrel, male on wires by Clough Head,
Sparrowhawk, pair in display,
Pheasant, 1 calling,
Lapwing, 14 at Holden Wood,
Curlew, 1 calling,
Snipe, 1 flushed off the tops,
Golden Plover, 16 on the tops,
Oystercatcher, pair flew up Heap Clough,
B.H.Gull, c6,
L.B.B.Gull, c12,
Wood Pigeon, c20,
Green Woodpecker, 1 yaffled just once,
G.S.Woodpecker, 1 calling,
Skylark, c12 in song,
Meadow Pipit, c20 back including parachute display. One bird found freshly dead on the tops possibly died due to cold?
Pied Wagtail, 2,
Wheatear, 2 males on fence posts near Deep Clough,
Song Thrush, c4 in song,
Mistle Thrush, 2 in song,
Dunnock, 2 singing,
Robin, 2 singing,
Chaffinch, c30, many in song,
Goldfinch, c5 small charms of 3-5 birds,
Greenfinch, 1 in song,
Bullfinch, 2 stripping buds off branches,
Reed Bunting, c5 calling birds.
