17:15 - 19:30 Inspired by the posting on The Manchester Birding website of 9 Dotterel on Brown Wardle today I thought I'd have another crack at trying to find some too! Alas a long slog up Plunge and a gusting wind on the tops were all in vain as the hill tops were almost barren of all birdlife. Seen on the way up and down were the following: Canada Goose, 2 pairs on Scout Res, Mallard, 2 flying over, Pheasant, 1 calling, L.B.B.Gull, c30 heading north, Wood Pigeon, c12, Little Owl, 1 in Plunge, Skylark, c8 managing tosing on the wind! Meadow Pipit, c30 Swallow, 2, Song Thrush, 1 Wheatear, c14 especially on the slopes of Plunge Valley, Willow Warbler, 2, L.T.Tit, 1, Starling, 2 collecting food and carrying to nest site, Green, Gold and Chaffinch in small numbers, Bullfinch, 1, Regards, David Nuttall.
