A cold windy day spent recording the following :
Blue tit, plentyfull with nesting material and food, some in nest boxes.
Great tit, many as above.
L t tit, one nest site, other pairs about.
Coal tit, one pair possibly feeding young, only one other seen.
Bullfinch, At least six pair, some carrying nesting material.
Greenfinch, odd ones.
Chaffinch, six + , no nesting activity.
Goldfinch, none.
Robin, several pairs nesting.
Dunnock, 2/3 pair.
Nuthatch, at least six individuals, one at old nest site.
Treecreeper, one feeding.
Wren, 2/3 seen and heard.
Goldcrest, one pair very active with nesting material, unusual here.
Willow warbler, one singing in lumb vale,
Blackcap, one male feeding along railway.
Blackbird, several carrying food.
Mistle thrush, one flying over.
G s woodpecker, three nest sites active, one in a nest box which they have opened out from 40mm to 80mm in a couple of weeks.
Jay, 3/4 very noisy.
Mallard, plenty on river no young seen.
Grey heron, one looked very lonley.
Greywagtail, One feeding along river.
Goosander, 3 female 1 male.
Dipper, one pair feeding young at usual site.
Sandmartin, two flying low on river.
Crow, one or two feeding
Rook, as above.
Jackdaw, couple flying over.
Woodpigeon, Plenty.
Collard dove, one pair
Pheasant, one male.
Tawny owl roosting near old nest site.
No Swallow or Housemartin seen, a Buzzard flew north along the Holcombe road.
