G.C.Grebe, 2 on Ogden,

Dabchick, 1,

Cormorant, 1 in trees at Holden Wood later flew up the valley.

Grey Heron, 1 flew up the valley,

Canada Goose, c20 in pairs,

Mallard, c8,

Goosander, pair on Calf Hey,

Kestrel, 2 singles,

Sparrowhawk, 2 females,

Buzzard, 1 soaring high over Haslingden Moor,

Red Grouse, 2 on the tops,

Moorhen, 1 on nest,

Common Sandpiper, 1 on Holden Wood,

L.R.P Pair 7 single,

Snipe, 1 "chipping" near Troy,

Golden Plover, 49 on the tops inc some striking northern birds,

Lapwing, c30 many in pairs,

Oystercatcher, pair on Holden Wood later flew to pasture at Ogden,

Curlew, 2 pairs, very vocal,

B.H.Gull, 4 in quarry,

L.B.B.Gull, 2 over west,

Stock Dove, flock of 3 over Clough Head + 3 in quarry possibly same birds,

Wood Pigeon, c20,

G.S.Woodpecker, single + pair,

Skylark, c12 mainly in song,

Meadow Pipit, c50 inc flock of 20,

Pied Wagtail, c4,

Stonechat, pair near Ogden,

Wheatear, c15 inc some big, bright specimens, mainly males,

Ring Ousel, 5 males just west of Deep Clough,

Willow Warbler, c12 especially Holden Wood, Heap Clough & even Clough Head had a singing bird,

L.T.Tit, 1 at Clough Head,

Coal Tit, c12,

Chaffinch, c20 many in song,

Greenfinch, 1 near Duke of Wellington,

Goldfinch, c6,

Linnet, 3 small flocks,

Reed Bunting, 1 at side of Holden Wood.
