G.C.Grebe, 1 on Ogden,

Grey Heron, 2 on Ogden, 1 on Calf Hey,

Canada Goose, 38 on Holden Wood, 16 in the quarries, several goslings present,

Sparrowhawk, female flew along the edge of the moor,

Kestrel, male hunting near Deep Clough,

Grey Partridge, 1 flushed from the side of Ogden,

L.R.P, 1,

Common Sandpiper, 5 or 6 especially Jamestone,

Lapwing, c20 at Holden Wood, plus odd birds elsewhere,

Golden Plover, pair on the tops probably had young hiding in the cotton grass,

Oystercatcher, up to 3 flying up and down the valley calling,

Curlew, c8 on the moors and a flock of 6 up high flying over,

B.H.Gull, c8,

L.B.B.Gull, c12 in singles heading west,

Stock Dove, 2 pairs,

Wood Pigeon, c20 in small flocks,

G.S.Woodpecker, family party of 4 at Heap Clough plus single at Clough Head,

Skylark, c20 on the tops still in good song,

Swallow, c12,

Sand Martin, around 4 pairs at the colony,

Pied Wagtail, c6,

Song Thrush, c3 in song,

Willow Warbler, c12 in song,

Blackcap, 2 in song,

L.T.Tit, 1 family party,

Raven, 1 being harried by two crows on the edge of the moor,

Starling, c12 feeding on pasture,

Goldfinch, c12 in small flocks,

Greenfinch, c6,

Chaffinch, c12, some singing,

Linnet, c8 in small flocks,

Siskin, good numbers with 6 over Clough Head, 6 at Heap Clough, a pair and a couple of singles. Some in display flight!

Reed Bunting, c4 singing birds,

Reservoirs now almost full so hopefully ground nesters were clear?
