female brambling at our feeders today

also seen at the feeders recently

  • blue tit - 4
  • great tit - 3
  • coal tit - 2
  • long tailed tit - 11
  • treecreeper - 1 occasional
  • dunnock - 2
  • robin - 2
  • blacbird - 7
  • jackdaw - 5
  • magpie - 2
  • jay - 1 occasional
  • starling - 11
  • house sparrow - 12
  • chaffinch - 15
  • greenfinch - 14
  • goldfinch - 14
  • bullfinch - 2

still can't attract a nuthatch even though there's one acroos the road in Trickett's Memorial

29 goldfinch and 18 greenfinch present this morning .  Possibly 5 brambling now coming 1 group of 1 male and 2 females seen this morning and then 2 males seen early afternoon

7 bramblings present this morning. 

Also whilst walking alongside the B & M store in Rawtenstall this morning I disturbed a female sparrowhawk trying to kill a feral pigeon.  Fortunately for the pigeon and unfortunately for the sparrowhawk I disturbed the sparrowhawk and both birds flew off.

a male siskin was present this morning.

yesterday 3 mistle thrush were in the area, one of which was singing

Can't find a Brambling to save my life this winter...Waxwings coming out of my ears earlier, some of them in Wales mind!

8 siskin present today, probably from a flock of 24 at Mill End.  2 treecreepers regular now.  bramblings now downn to a single female

2 or 3 redwing, a song thrush and a leucistic blackbird all put in an appearance today

a pair of redpoll  on the niger feeder this morning.  a male brambling also present.  flock of 16 siskin flew over from Park Road
