This morning around Groundwork/ New Hall Hey signal box. Fairly mobile but still present when I left at 9.30.

Only 3 seen. Apologies - hadn't realised I'd failed to put the number down (must have been the excitement of getting a Rossendale tick). Didn't see/hear any when I came back in the afternoon.

Still 12 birds there at 16:20 hrs, feeding well and very tolerant of disturbance. Nice one Andy!

All present and correct this morning (same location).

Sarfraz - take bypass out of Rawtenstall, turn left at roundabout then  immediately right. Can't miss it

12 still there from 9.30 till 10.20 this morning but then left high to south very noisily.

No birds there at 11.20 when i popped back to check.

Must have just missed you Craig thirteen birds present at 12 noon. Sat here in my study typing this at 4.00pm and a flock of thirty Waxwings have just landed in a tree to the rear of my home in The Glen. Hadn't seen one this winter and now I'm tripping over them, thanks for the initial post Andy.

None seen at 8:30am & 1:30pm today at Groundwork.  On a walk down to EBSW I did note the following

  • little grebe - 1 on Holmes Terrace Lodge
  • cormorant - 1 in atree at EBSW
  • goosander - 1 pr on the river
  • buzzard - 1 over EBSW flying towards Horncliffe
  • sparrowhawk - 1 over EBSW
  • stock dove - 1 at Townsendfold
  • green woodpecker - 1 yaffling at New Hall Hey
  • kingfisher - 1 at EBSW
  • dipper - 3 prs & a single
  • goldcrest - 2 singing birds at EBSW

Waiting for a Bus in Rawtenstal this morningl, near to Asda, there were 16 Waxwings in the tree tops between Asda and the Church.. Flew off towards the Groundworks.
