  1. grey heron - 1 flying over Lench
  2. mute swan - 6 on Wallbank Lodge
  3. Canada goose - 2pr at Lench, 3pr at Kearn's Lodge, 3pr at Cowpe Res, 20 at Cowm, 1pr on Wallbank being harrassed by cob mute swan & 9 at Spring Mill
  4. mallard - 2pr on Lench lodges,6 in Whitworth Quarry, 20+ on Cowm and 5 at Spring Mill
  5. tufted duck - 1m on Cowm, 1pr on Wallbank Lodge & 1m on Spring Mill
  6. goldeneye - 1m & 1f on Spring Mill
  7. moorhen - 1 at Lench & 1pr on Wallbank Lodge including sitting bird
  8. oystercatcher - 1pr flew high over the dam wall at Cowm and possibly the same pr were at Spring Mill
  9. lapwing - 3 near sheephouse Farm Stacksteads 7 2 at Spring Mill
  10. woodcock 1 on the moor above Whitworth Quarry
  11. curlew - 1pr flew up Cowpe Valley over Lench
  12. lesser black backed gull - 140 flew up Cowpe Valley from 09:35 to 10:45
  13. common gull - 1 at Lench and 1 at Kearn's Lodge
  14. tawny owl - roosting bird at Lench
  15. great spotted woodpecker - 1 in Park Road Waterfoot
  16. skylark - 11 between Cwpe Res and Whitworth Quarry
  17. meadow pipit - 22 at Cowpe Res, 16 between Cowpe Res and lee Quarry, 32 at Whitworth Quarry, 3 feeding in outflow at Cowm and 17 at Spring Mill
  18. pied wagtail - 1pr and a single at Cowpe Res, 1 in Whitworth Quarry and 1 at cowm
  19. grey wagtail - 2 at Cowm
  20. woodpigeon - 25 at Lench, 1 sat on nest at Wallbank and 19 at Spring Mill
  21. collared dove - 5 in Cowpe valley and 1 near Cowm
  22. wren - 2 at Lench, 1 at Cowm and 1 at Spring Mill
  23. dipper - 1 on Cowpe Brook near Lench
  24. dunnock - 8 in Cowpe Valley, 2 at Cowm and 3 at Wallbank Lodge
  25. robin - 8 singing birds in Cowpe Valley
  26. wheatear - 1 male at Cowpe res
  27. song thrush - 3 at Mill End, 1 in trickett's, 1 near wallbank Lodge and 2 in Healey Dell
  28. redwing - 1 in trickett's Memorial, 1 near Cowpe Res and a flock of at least 44 in Healey Dell
  29. mistle thrush - 1pr at cowm 7 1pr at Spring Mill
  30. fieldfare - flock of 16 near Cowpe Res
  31. chiffchaff - 1 feeding quietly in trees below dam wall at Cowm
  32. goldcrest - 1pr at lench and 1 singing below the dam Wall at Cowm
  33. great tit - 5 at lench
  34. blue tit - 4 at Lench
  35. coal tit - 2 at lench
  36. long tailed tit - prs at Lench, kearn's Lodge, Cowm and Wallbank Lodge
  37. nuthatch - singing bird at wallbank Lodge
  38. magpie - 4 at Lench, 11 in one tree at kearn's Lodge and 9 at Spring Mill
  39. jay - 1 at Cowm -
  40. jackdaw - 20 on the hillside above Cowpe Res
  41. carrion crow - c25 on the hillside above Cowpe Res
  42. rook - calling from Brandwood Moor
  43. raven 1 calling on the hillside above Cowpe Res and 1 at Spring Mill
  44. starling 6 in Cowpe Village, 6 om the hills above Cowpe Res and 20 at Spring Mill
  45. house sparrow - 23 in Cowpe village amd c20 near the Cock and Magpie pub in Whitworth
  46. chaffinch - 7 in Cowpe village
  47. redpoll - 1 at Cowm and 1 flying over Whitworth Quarry
  48. goldfinch - 2 at Lench, 2 at Cowpe Res and 3 at Spring Mill
  49. greenfinch - 2 in Cowpe village and 4 at Cowm
  50. siskin - birds heard in Park Road Waterfoot
  51. bullfinch - 1 pr flying over Whitworth Quarry and 1pr at Cowm
  52. reed bunting - 3m & 1f at Cowpe Res, 1m on Lower Brandwood Moor, 1 on the moor above Lee Quarry and 1 at spring Mill
