10-1pm Today

 

Holden Wood:-

2 Common Sandpiper

3 Oystercatcher together

3 Mallard drakes

approx. 8 Lapwing in the field

2 on reservoir mud ....mobbing Crows

max 6 BH Gulls...a serious absence of them

2 min Reed Bunting

a few Meadow Pipits

1 Blackcap

Great Tits, Chaffinches, Blackbirds in song

Woodpigeons, Carrion crows - 1 which was eating what looked like a chick of some sort....

1 Grey Heron

Lesser Black-backed flying over

Above the reservoirs;-

2 Linnet

1 Kestrel - male

min 3 Skylarks in song

good numbers of Meadow Pipits

Green Woodpecker flying

1 Curlew

and a brilliant Buzzard crossing the valley heading East to Halingden moor. 

Fairy Glen:-

1 Blackcap

2 Wrens

Great its in song

Willow Warblers in good numbers

 

Calf hey:-

2 Great Crested Grebes

1 Oystercatcher

1 Little Ringed Plover

3 Mallard drakes

Pied wagtail

Black-headed Gulls ...just a very few

 

in the felled plantation between Calf Hey and Ogden:-

quite a few Blackbirds

Wren

Willow Warbler

Song Thrush

Great Spotted Woodpecker

Mistle Thrush

 

Ogden:-

 

3 Oystercatchers - most likely same as Holden Wood

Mistle Thrush in song

1 Common Sandpiper - heard

Forgot to add at least 5 House Martins on banks of Holden Wood collecting mud . May have been more but 5 maximum seen at one time.
