Over the last few days, one sparrowhawk, common buzzard being mobbed by a crow, male and female dipper with three chicks that have survived ,their was four, the pair of kingfishers have mated again and are on their second brood while the male appears to be doing all the fishing.
Submit it to the Springwatch Pool. It is by far one of the best shots I have seen of a Kingfisher. The drops of water reflect the Kingfishers colour - there are orange and blue-green drops. Did the first brood fledge successfully?
Hi, the last two days have been difficult to see the birds due to me moving up stream a few hundred yards ,I cant see the nest but it appears after todays visit the male bird as not been in the nest to feed the chicks, I can only presume they have fledged(they are 24 days old and I know that because I have watched them from day one) as kingfishers chicks usually leave is silly times early morning before light, this was also confirmed with a friend of mine David Boag who as studied Kingfishers for years, also the female is currently on eggs and they definitely have a second nest and hopefully a second brood .PS I would also like to add that this photo was taken 135 yards from the nest around the bend of the river at a spot were I studied and watched the bird preening and washing.
