Cormorant, groups of 2 & 3 flew down the valley off AMR,

Grey Heron, 2 on Buckhurst Lodge,

Canada Goose, flocks of 21 & 27,

Teal, 3 on lower lodge,

Mallard, c20 on Buckhurst Lodge,

Kestrel, 4 singles hunting,

Sparrowhawk, 3 singles inc hunting bird mobbed by swallows and soaring female mobbed by crows,

Buzzard, 1 distant bird soaring bird in G.M.

Pheasant, c20,

Moorhen, 1 on Buckhurst Lodge,

L.B.B.Gull, c100 on pasture,

B.H.Gull, c30 on pasture,

Wood Pigeon, c30 feeding on harrowed field,

Skylark, 3 near Golf Course and 1 on Harden Moor,

Swallow, c80 still on territory with lots of juvs,

House Martin, 2 near Deeply Hill,

Meadow Pipit, c80 with most moving through south,

Pied Wagtail, c12,

Mistle Thrush, flock of 7,

Willow Warbler, 2 calling,

L.T.Tit, 1 flock,

Jay, 2,

Rook, c30 feeding on harrowed field and c10 moving over Harden Moor,

Starling, flock of c30,

Goldfinch, c150 inc a single charm of c100 birds near Buckhurst,

Greenfinch, 2,

Chaffinch, c12,

Linnet, flocks of 5 & 2,

Reed Bunting, 4.

Hi Dave

I was also in the Deeply Vale area today and can add the following

  • 1 great crested grebe on AMR
  • 6 cormorants were on AMR
  • 2 teal were on the pond at AMR and 7 flew off the lower lodge at Deeply Vale
  • 9 goosander on AMR
  • 62 lapwing at AMR
  • another moorhen on Buckhurst Lodge and 1 on the lower lodge at Deeply Vale
  • 1 group of 3 kestrel hunting together & 5 singles (possibly some duplication, but probably a minimum of 5 birds)
  • buzzard 3 soaring near Salesis farm
  • 4 skylark at AMR
  • c100 meadow pipit at AMR
  • 1 wheatear at AMR
  • 1 chiffchaff singing at Cheesden & 2 juvs in Tit flock at Buckhurst
  • the goldfinch flock at Buckhurst was at least 220 birds strong in the afternoon, with several other small flocks in other areas
  • 1m bullfinch
  • another 5 reed buntings at AMR
