Counting from down in fields off Vicarage lane, near Dalton (Burton In Kendal) Conditions again like yesterday very murky and hampering good visability, and as a result just getting birds directly above.
Chaffinch: 152 (mainly to the SE), Meadow Pipit: 33, Swallow: 25, Alba Wagtail: 2, Common Snipe 1, Goldfinch: 9, Siskin: 3 Reed Bunting 1.
Great to hear from you and glad all is well. Remind us to dad and mum.
Yes just starting over here. Hutton Roof will be much fragmented in counts this year, because of family chauffeuring etc. But now managing to do a little bit from home (3 mins or ten minute walk) but the beauty is there will be far greater counts of Chaffinch, about the same on mipits, and a good line for the Thrushes, so probably will be for the best. Also after taking daughter down to Heysham some mornings, I am calling in to see Pete Marsh and relieving him from counting vis so he can concentrate on ringing etc etc.
Had first Redwing this morning (never saw it just heard it) but they are coming in now. Also I am told that good numbers of Brambling are on their way. A cracking year this year for the berries on both the Rowan and the Yews so lets see what we get!
Also I believe lots of Yellow Browed Warblers in at present. "I am sick of hearing Pete's YBW tapes while I am watching vis at Heysham. I keep thinking "whats that rarity lurking amongs the shrub"......
Keep in touch by phone when the season REALLY gets going (another week or so).
Best,
Bryan.
