Cormorant, 12 roosting at Holden Wood, 2 on Ogden and one flew around the quarry face at Troy(?)!
Canada Goose, 21 at Holden Wood, 15 at Ogden, 2 on Calf Hey plus pairs in the quarries,
Mallard, c12,
Teal, 9 on Calf Hey,
Kestrel, pair hunting near Ogden,
Buzzard, 1 soaring to the west and 1 low over Clough Head,
Red Legged Partridge, a pair flushed just north of Clough Head whilst heading up towards Haslingden Moor. These are only my second ever record for this species,
Coot, a pair at Holden Wood,
Redshank, 1 flew up Holden Wood calling and nearly landed twice before flying up towards Ogden. I located it on Ogden 20 minutes later when it called and was still on the res shore when I left,
Lapwing, 8 at Holden Wood and a single flying along Ogden,
Curlew, 1 called near Calf Hey,
Oystercatcher, 4 were at Holden Wood and 2 at Ogden. When I got to Calf Hey a flock of 7 were flying around so not sure how many birds are in the valley in total!
Golden Plover, 1 flew off Haslingden Moor and another calling,
B.H.Gull, c10 in pairs or singles,
Common Gull, 1 immature,
Herring Gull, a flock of 8 east,
Wood Pigeon, c40 including 24 feeding on pasture near Ogden,
Stock Dove, a pair at Troy,
Green Woodpecker, yaffling regularly from Heap Clough / Holden Wood area,
