River Irwell Strongstry.

0700-1000 hrs Sunny cool 6 to 8 degrees.

Lots of Blue, Coal, and Great tit activity, Long-tailed Tits feeding young. 

Plenty of Chaffinch, one pair Goldfinch nesting, Bullfinch doing well.

Young Blackbird and Robin seen.

Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Great Spotted Woodpecker all doing well.

Jay and Jackdaw nesting as are a pair of Starlings in house roof, unusual for here.

One pair of Dipper are feeding well grown young in the nest, pair each of Pied and Grey Wagtail carrying nest material.

Mallard with young, and pair of Goosander, no sign of nesting, Kingfisher flying upstream.

Several pair of Willow Warbler, one pair of, Chiffchaff, and probably four pair of Blackcap nesting.

Wrens everywhere, no young seen.

At least three pair of Song Thrush, one pair feeding young.

Four Swallow overhead, Sand Martins as yesterday's report, no House  Martin seen yet
