G.C.Grebe, 1 calling on Calf Hey,

Cormorant, 1 in trees at Holden Wood,

Grey Heron, 1 at Holden Wood and 1 in quarries,

Canada Goose, c50 with 22 young seen,

Mallard, c6,

Kestrel, 1 along the side of Ogden,

Pheasant, 1 at Holden Wood,

Coot, pair on Holden Wood,

Moorhen, 1 on Holden Wood,

LRP, 1,

Common Sandpiper, 1,

Lapwing, c12 at Holden Wood,

Curlew, 1 calling on Haslingden Moor,

B.H.Gull, c30 in Jamestone,

L,B.B.Gull, 4 over east,

Stock Dove, 3 in Jamestone,

Swift, 2 over,

G.S.Woodpecker, c4, many calling,

Skylark, 2 near Jamestone,

Swallow, c20,

Sand Martin, c10,

Meadow Pipit, c30,

Pied Wagtail, c4,

Grey Wagtail, 1,

Song Thrush, 2 in song at Calf Hey,

Mistle Thrush, 2 near Deep Clough,

Hi Dave

I can add the following to your list

  • cormorant - 3 birds were flying over Holden Wood
  • Canada goose - 72 adults and 22 goslings at Holden Wood & 6 adults and 11 goslings in Jamestone Quarry
  • mallard - 1 with at least 12 recently hatched ducklings on Calf Hey and also 1 older duckling on its own
  • teal - duck with 1 well grown duckling
  • coot - a third bird on Holden Wood
  • moorhen - 1 adult and 1 large juv on Holden Wood
  • oystercatcher - 1pr at Holden Wood and 1pr at Calf Hey
  • common sandpiper - at 3 sites
  • lapwing - 26 at Holden Wood & 1 at Jamestone Quarry
  • tawny owl - calling bird at Clough Head
  • dipper - 1 at Holden Wood
  • stonechat - 1m at Calf Hey
  • wheatear - 1m at Jamestone Quarry
  • nuthatch - 1pr at Calf Hey, probably had young in the treetops, and were probably different birds to yours
  • redpoll - 1 heard at Holden Wood
