Over the last few days there has been up to twenty Black Headed gulls on the ground, many this seasons young, I've worked there 12 years and only ever seen the odd one or two BHGull on the ground in the past, just wondered if there is a reason for the recent influx. They appear to be feeding on insects, possibly Leatherjackets and Chafer grubs but these grubs have always been there many groundsmen chemically control them but as they are not really damaging the ground I tend not to. Corvids can cause a lot of damage when the grubs are abundant but as yet not a problem to me.
