min of 10 Mallard  ..mostly eclipsed males

3 grey heron - one on the res,  one flying over trees,  thirds actually on ogden

2  great crested grebe  - in fact one of these was on ogden

min of 50 b h gulls loafing around on the waters edge  ..

2 singing wrens - one very subdued

blackbird in song

thought i heard a stonechat in felled plantation on south side but could not locate it

plenty of magpies, crows, woodpigeons on  the slope....feeding on  whinberry?

min of 10 pied wagtail

8 starlings flew over

at least 100 min small tortoiseshells

min of 30 meadow browns

min of 30 white butterflies

min of 10 large skippers
