Hi Anthony,

I think its a Willow Warbler or a Chiffchaff. Would say fresh juv W Warb off brightness but legs also look blackish, feature of Chiffy. Nice garden bird all the same.

Craig.

Hi Tony

One of the things I look for (which is not always easy to see in the field) is the wing length.

Which would you say yours more favours?

Although I feel it's a Chiff Chaff I would bend to Craig view having far more experience with these and considering the time of year the wing length maybe not enough......need a song!

Thanks Steve, wings appear shorter in my non too professional photo but I'm not sure, would the fact that Craig thinks it a juvenile bird make a difference.? Can't help with a song either. Looking through my books there's not a great deal of difference between some Warblers, Wood, Willow, Chiffchaff etc so I'm relying on you experts for an ID. It's not been back so can't help with any more info. Cheers Tony. BTW I've seen a scruffy looking Sparrowhawk above the garden so your ID of the tail feather looks good, the wealth of knowledge in Fletchers is amazing.!
