Not a lot about but the following were of note

  • mute swan - 2
  • mallard - c40
  • tufted duck - 1 male and 1 female
  • black headed gull - 25
  • lesser black backed gull - 14
  • stonechat - 2
  • whinchat - 1

Mixed in with the lesser black backed gulls was a possible first winter yellow legged gull.  I would be interested to hear what others have to say about the bird in the attached (poor quality) photos.  The bird in question is fourth from the right as you view.  It was clearly lighter on the wings than the lesser black backs present and appeared white on the neck and head except for the crown and around the eye wher it was rather mucky. This bird at http://www.gull-research.org/ylg1cy2cy/1cyjuly/mich5547.htm looks remarkably like the bird in question although the wings appear a touch darker than the bird I saw.  the bird I saw appears to be slighly bulkier than the lesser black backs particulatrly around the neck and head and appeared to be slightly larger. Unfortunately I didn't have too long to look at the bird as I had to get home

cheers Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Difficult to tell off them pics. Do you mean 4th from the left (right hand bird)?? looks paler than the 2 left hand birds.

Craig.
