At the far end of Calf Hey Res where the stream comes in some stone steps go up into a plantation. At the top of the steps I saw at least two TREECREEPERS and ended my longest wait in a year to record this species!! Thanks to all for their help in locating this species. Also in the area:- 5 Tufted Ducks, Peregrine (juv sat near dam wall), 10 Goldfinch, 10 Starling, Herring Gull (juv), 4 Jays.

Just shows how some species which are taken for granted can be so difficult to see. You do need to do the ROB Bird Race in January - you could get p to 60 species ticked off by then. You should write a report on how many places you visited and what efforts you took to see a Treecreeper.

Nice to meet Jack Hoyle at Calf Hey. Look forward to seeing you around Haslingden.
