Was there until 3.15,pm in trees hunched up. Second record for Holden wood/Grane - first in 2011 when 2 stayed a week. This must be ,4th Rossendale record?

Hi Steve,

It has been a good autumn at Grane and it does inspire me to go out more. I have had quite a few new patch ticks from scarcer birds such as Osprey and Great Egret to commoner birds such as Chiffchaff. I used to go to other reserves St least once a fortnight but have decided to give that a break. Not many places in East Lancashire can boast of having the two Egrets present on one patch at the same time.

Other notable birds seen:-

Coot at Holden wood, 50 min lapwings at Holden wood and Ogden ...rest were usual.

Not to forget daw a Red Admiral at Holden Wood and Roe Deer at Calf Hey last Friday.
