Late mornimg

1 Peregrine over E.B.S.W.

Chiffchaff - 2 - at both ends of the sewage works

Coal tit - 1 calling

Dipper - 1 on river

Goosander - 1f on river

WillowWarbler - 2 singing around the circuit + 1 in sewage works

Blackcap - 2 males squabbling then singing

Bullfinch - 1pr around circuit + 1f nr soap works

Swallow - c20 feeding over sewage works included c3 H. Martin and 1 Sand Martin

Collared Dove - 1pr Irwell Vale with nest material

Starling - 1 at Irwell Vale

Rook - 7 nests near soap works

Pied Wagtail - c6 on sewage works, low numbers so far!

Nuthatch - 1 calling Irwell Vale

Oystercatcher - 1pr on sewage works

Cormorant - 1 flew up the valley.

Grey Heron - 2 in the area.

Song Thrush, Blackbird, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Dunnock, Wren, Robin, Grt Tit, Blue Tit all in song despite cold and rain.

Must have been there at the same time as myself Bob, as that Peregrine flew above my head and scattered all the birds. Did not see or hear any warblers though.

Hi Chaps

I was there slightly later than yourselves.  Missed the peregrine and the blackcaps, but had 2 sightings of buzzard, 1 flying towards Horncliffe and later 1 soaring over Irwell Vale.  Could have been the same bird.

I can also add the following

  • 1 curlew high over EBSW towards Shuttleworth
  • another willow warbler
  • another 3 chiffchaffs
  • kingfisher on the river
  • 1 pr grey wagtail near Stand Athletic and 1 pr near the soap works
