G.C.Grebe, 3 on Holden Wood & 1 on Calf Hey,

Cormorant, 1 on Holden Wood & 2 on Ogden,

Grey Heron, 1 flew up the valley,

Canada Goose, c50 with many in pairs and some sitting,

Mallard, c12,

Teal, 3 on Holden Wood,

Tufted Duck, pair on Holden Wood,

Buzzard, several sightings of single birds, hassled by Kestrels & Crows & a pair soaring over the valley,

Sparrowhawk, 2 soaring birds,

Kestrel, 4 singles,

Pheasant, calling birds,

Coot, 4 (possibly 5) on Holden Wood,

Moorhen, 3 on Holden Wood & 1 in Troy,

Snipe, "chipping" bird at Holden Wood,

Lapwing, c20 at Holden Wood in pairs or small groups,

Golden Plover, 1 on the tops,

L.R.Plover, 2/3 birds,

Oystercatcher, pair at Holden Wood & pair above Troy,

Curlew, 3 pairs on the tops,

B.H.Gull, c12,

L.B.B.Gull, c12 through east,

Wood Pigeon, c20,

Stock Dove, 2 pairs plus a single around quarries,

G.S.Woodpecker, 1 calling at Calf hey,

Green Woodpecker, 1 yaffling at Calf hey & at Jamestones,

Skylark, c4 singing birds,

Swallow, c8 at Holden Wood,

Meadow Pipit, c20,

Pied Wagtail, c12,

Wheatear, 9 of which 4 were probably Greenland race,

Song Thrush, 6 singing birds,

Mistle Thrush, 5 singing birds,

Willow Warbler, c20 singing birds,

Coal Tit, c30, many in song,

L.T.Tit. pair,

Goldcrest, 2 pairs,

Nuthatch, singing bird at Calf hey,

Jay, calling bird at Calf Hey,

Raven, single being hassled by crows at Ogden,

Goldfinch, c12,

Greenfinch, c10 inc flock of 5 in Heap Clough,

Chaffinch, c20,

Bullfinch, flock of 5 near Calf Hey is the most I've seen for a while,

Linnet, 2 at Ogden & 2 males in Jamestones,

Reed Bunting, singing bird at Calf hey.
