Cormorant, 2 in trees at Holden Wood and 15 on Ogden where 13 were stood drying their wings and 2 fishing the res,

Canada Goose, c75 on Holden Wood left to the south around 09:00,

Mallard, 10 on Calf Hey,

Teal, 8 on Calf Hey,

Buzzard, pair soaring over the valley,

Kestrel, 2 singles,

Lapwing, 5 at Holden Wood,

B.H.Gull, 16 on Holden Wood,

Common Gull, 1 in with Black Heads,

Stock Dove, single at Holden Wood,

G.S.Woodpecker, calling birds at Heap Clough & Calf Hey,

Green Woodpecker, 1 yaffling from it's perch on a fence post near Heap Clough,

Pied Wagtail, 2 at Holden Wood,

Grey Wagtail, 2 at Holden Wood,

Meadow Pipit, 4 at Jamestones Quarry,

Stonechat, male on thistle tops at Ogden,

Fieldfare, flocks of c30 & 8 along with 2 singles all east,

Redwing, 2 east,

Coal Tit, c12 in tit flocks,

L.T.Tit, c20 in tit flocks,

Goldcrest, c12 in tit flocks,

Blue Tit, c6,

Great Tit, 2,

Nuthatch, 2 calling birds near Calf Hey,

Jay, 1 in Heap Clough,

Goldfinch, charms of 66 in Heap Clough, c30 at Holden Wood & c30 at Calf Hey,

Chaffinch, c20,

Greenfinch, 2 in Heap Clough,

Siskin, calling birds flew up the valley but not seen.

Hi Dave

I was up at Grane from 10:15 and can add the following

grey heron - 1 at Holden Wood & 1 at Calf Hey
cormorant - 3 at Holden Wood & 17 on Ogden when I walked up the valley, then later there were 16 in the trees at Holden Wood, which included 1 bird that flew in from Musbury
buzzard - several sightings of single birds, probably involving at least 4 birds and including 1 bird carrying large prey item over Ogden Res
sparrowhawk - 1 male at Holden Wood
mallard - 14 on Holden Wood, 4 on Ogden and 16 on Calf Hey
teal - 4 on Ogden and 24 on Calf Hey
golden plover - 19 on Haslingden Moor
snipe - 2 on Haslingden Moor
moorhen - 1 at Holden Wood
common gull - 3 at Holden Wood
lesser black backed gull - 1 juv briefly on Holden Wood
great spotted woodpecker - 1 at Holden Wood & 1 at Calf Hey
stonechat - 1pr at the lower end of Deep Clough in the area the dissects Jamestone Quarry
siskin - 10 at Holden Wood and 1 female at Heap Clough
