Hi Dave

I was up at Grane, a little later than you, for the WEBS count today and can add the following

cormorants - increased to 18 birds on Ogden and Holden Wood with another 2 seen flying over Thirteen Stone Hill
Canada goose - c150 birds
buzzard - 1 at Holden Wood, 1 at Ogden & 2 together at Troy Wood, could have been the same 2 birds
snipe - 1 at Holden Wood
black headed gull - increased to 150 at Holden Wood and another 35 on Ogden
herring gull - 3 on Holden Wood plus 6 flying east
meadow pipit - 6 at Holden Wood & 2 at Ogden
pied wagtail - 1 at Holden Wood
woodpigeon - 10 across the road from the Duke of Wellington and 5 at Holden Wood
dipper - 1 possibly 2 at Ogden
stonechat - 1 female at the top end of Ogden
redwing - 1 at Crow Trees with 4 blackbirds
chaffinch - flock of 8 in hawthorns near the entrance to Ogden Res and a couple of calling birds at Calf Hey
goldfinch - managed to find 2 singles, but as you say Dave small birds were notably scarce today

cheers Kevin
