A stunning White Gyr was seen sat on fence posts near C Bottom res area yesterday morning but weather turned wet and foggy later so couldn't go to look.

Prob a lost falconry bird. Anyone know someone local who has lost/ flies a white Gyr?? I don't.. Have they got it back??

Been up for a look for an hour this morning but foggy and couldn't see much..

Craig.

Hi Ste,

Yep, saw that. This one nearly certain falconry bird now as it looks to have telemetry on it.. Would love to see this local one though, looks beautiful on pic I seen. Just like the Uist birds plumage.

Ps... Happy New Year to Mandy and yourself.

Craig.

Just read there's a female Saker Falcon missing from an aviary in Co. Durham since Boxing day, not sure how similar they can be to Gyr Falcon but about the same size.

Hi Tony,

Its defo a Gyr. Lovely big white one too.

Someone must be searching for it, or may already have got it back as no sign since.

White ones are a bit rarer and more valuable so will be wanted back by owner!!

Regards, Craig.

Thanks Craig, I'm lucky to see a kestrel or a sparrowhawk when I'm out and about, must try harder.!!
