Sarfraz and myself did a quick trip up Pendle Hill today after hearing reports of 4 Dotterel seen early am. Quick was not how we both climbed the "Big end", more a slow sweating crawl in the warm sunshine. The good thing was we were greeted at the summit by a lovely Male Dotterel. 3 other birds present earlier had already departed. A pleasant hour was spent watching and photographing it before we left 4-5 other birders at 12.30 with it. The remaining bird apparently left c1pm so glad we went early.
Not a lot else up there except 4 Raven, 1 Red Grouse, Skylarks, Pipits and lots of hikers..
Nice photos Craig. Thanks for letting me know about the sighting and now I have seen my first and Dotterel. Here are some of mine from the day Dotterel, Raven, a very confiding Skylark and a green Butterfly species I do not recognise. I had a feeling those Ravens were trying to hunt the Dotterel.
