Text message from Sarfraz Sunday evening, are you coming on a wild goose chase on Monday morning yes was the answer.
Unfortunately it turned into one as the targeted species Red-breasted Goose and Lesser Snow Goose nowhere to be seen
Not all was lost first stop Eagland Hill where Sarfraz had are first bird of prey Sparrowhawk on a hedgerow, later we had Buzzard- Kestrel and Peregrine. Feeding station we saw Yellow Hammer-Corn Bunting and Tree Sparrow
Onto Lower Thurnham into Moss Lane for 4 Bewick's Swan's Whooper Swan 250+ Mute Swan 30+ and Pink-footed Goose 1000+
Onto Hillam Lane Thurnham where I have never seen so many geese was told around 3000+ In with them was 5 White-fronted and one Pale-bellied Brent and a good number of Curlew 50+ All so seen a good number of starlings forming some nice small murmurations
Quick look at Glasson Dock large flock of Lapwing all so seen Dublin-Redshank-Knot-Goldeneye-Golden Plover-Shelduck-Little Egret and a possible G W Egret in flight

I gave the photo to a 3D printing machine :) All in all a vey good day. Did not see my 2 hoped for species but lots of other species around - Peregrine, Sparrowhawk, Golden Plover, 100s of Curlew and Lapwing, 3 species of Swans including Bewick's, 3 species of Goose but no Canada or Greylag! Corn Bunting, Yellowhammer and Tree Sparrow at Eagland Hill. We saw around 65 species of birds without trying to tick everything. There were lots of waders, ducks and geese.
Usually when Craggy spots something and thinks it's a wild animal it turn out to be a plastic bag or a bucket but he redeemed himself by picking out this very distant Hare (?) in the grass looking like a bit of wood. Did anyone say "Cuckoo"?
