Towndend Fold, Strongstry, Bull Hill, Grane today

Oystercatcher - 2 EBSW, 1 over Alderbottom (W), 2 Jamestones, 2 Holden Wood

Lapwing - c30 Holden Wood, 2 around Jamestones

Curlew - bubbling birds east of Alderbottom (unusual?), Musbury, Jamestones

Common Sandpiper - 2 Holden Wood, 1 Jamestones

One or two other odds'n'sods:

Grasshopper warbler reeling Calf Hey

Whitethroat Townsend Fold (still only one)

6 Wheatears between Buckden and Bull Hill, 1 Musburry and about 6 north side Grane (all the latter perhaps breeding birds)

Hi Andy,

There have been a couple of pair of Curlew displaying and showing nesting activity in the fields between the cycle track (Strongstry to Irwell vale) and Holcombe road for most of the week, I agree its unusual.
