Think it's safe now to say LRP have had a decent breeding season on the Res after a terrible start due to all eggs going missing from 4 nests prob due in the main to Carrion Crows, poss Fox etc but it has not been helped by sightings posted of these sched 1 breeders on our local bird websites!

Re-laid nests have since produced at least 4 fully fledged, and now flying, young and there is now a brood of 4 chicks c1 week old which will still be vulnerable for some time yet.

Big thanks should be given to United Utilities for agreeing to keep the water level low should the water level have risen rapidly in the event of any wet weather, after the Reservoir had been kept very low due to the overflow work carried out from last autumn. In reality, the weather has turned out to be dry-ish anyway..

Other birds seen this morn-

1 Crossbill calling over Res to backbpond pine wood, 2 Redshank, 2 C Sand and 4 B H Gulls.

Also Archie said he had 2 Knott on the Res yesterday.
